The Melcher-Dallas Saints will host a double header of hoops tonight when they take on Orient-Macksburg. The girls are 5-6 and tied 6th place of the Bluegrass Conference, putting them one spot underneath the Orient-Macksburg girls team. Head Coach Kelsey Goff says defense was a big part of what the team has worked since coming back from the break.

“I think that’s been one of our main focuses over break our defense and it has continued to be that and will be that, and we just play straight up man defense and so working on things, knowing who you’re guarding, if they’re a shooter, if they’re a dribbler, forcing them left or right depending on what hand they use, talking on screens, jamming the cutters, so that’s kind of what we worked on over break, which was more of those fine details of tuning up our man defense.”

The Saints boys team is 4-6 and looking to avoid 3 losses in a row since the start of the 2020 portion of the season. The Orient-Macksburg boys are still looking for their first win and are at the bottom of the Bluegrass Conference.

You can catch all the action at Melcher-Dallas High School gymnasium with the girls game starting at 6pm and the boys following right after.
