The Indianola City Council was presented with an update on the budget process at their most recent meeting. Indianola City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the taxable valuation of city properties is $600 million, and now that the city has that information provided by Warren County, they can move on to the next step in the process.
“So now that we have those numbers, that tells us how much revenue we can project. Then start taking that revenue and start aligning it with the expenses that have come in as part of the budget proposals from different city departments. So now we get a clear picture on what is needed in order to fund those projects.”
Waller also said staff is still waiting on direction from the council on the funding that will go towards civic organizations, so there are several things to be decided before the city turns its budget over to the state in March.
