Freezing rain and sleet made roads hazardous Friday afternoon and evening, causing several accidents locally, but also cut down on overall snowfall totals, as the wintry mix lasted longer than predicted. Here were the reports to the National Weather Service of snowfall in the area:
Knoxville – 3″
Indianola – 3″
Pella – 1″ (also approx. .15″ of ice)
Additional chances for accumulating snow return overnight Sunday, with up to another inch possible. Many roads remain slick and snow covered in the county, and area law enforcement reminds drivers to take it slower than usual and to pay extra attention.
