The Pella Christian and Knoxville basketball teams will take a step away from conference action to face each other at Eagle Lane tonight for a girls-boys doubleheader Monday evening.
Pella Christian’s girls will seek their first win of the season against a Knoxville team that just dropped out of the top 15 in Class 4A. The Eagles will have to find a way to contain the lethal combination of Katie Keitges and Maggie Wilkins, as both are averaging a combined 47 points per game and are the No. 2 and No. 3 top scorers in Class 4A.
The Pella Christian boys are looking to keep racking up wins in a crucial time for playoff seeding, especially as they try to get healthy after a rough winter break of injuries. They’ll seek the return of Josh Van Gorp and his 18.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game after he missed last week against Grinnell. Knoxville counters with the strong guard play of Kieren Nichols and his 29 points per game, which has fueled an eight game winning streak for the Panthers.
Pella Christian vs. Knoxville can be heard live on both 92.1 KRLS and 95.3 KNIA, with pregame starting at 6 p.m. from Pella Christian High School.
