The new specs for the Warren County Justice Center project have gone out to bid to local and statewide companies. The original bids for the project were rejected by the board in August of 2019, and a bond issue voted on in November to increase funding for the project by an additional $4.5 million had a 55% approval but failed to reach the necessary 60% to pass. Board Assistant Megan Andrew tells KNIA News a committee headed by Supervisor Aaron DeKock and county employees who would use the new building have been working on ways to save money on the project.

“The user group has been working to bring the cost down to re-bid the project, and we will get those back in January. Once those come back and the board gets the final numbers, they will be presented with the final options on how to go about financing it or other options with the project.”

No decisions have been made, but discussions on receiving extra funds through a re-offering premium on the current bonds, or moving the location of the building off the square entirely have been put forth by the board.
