indianola-3

The Indianola basketball teams travel to Oskaloosa today for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader. The 5-3 Indians girls are 3-1 in conference play, and will face an Osky team that has lost its last eight games and has yet to pick up a conference victory. The Indians boys will have a much tougher challenge against an Osky team that has battled injuries all season long, but still presents a height advantage if 7-footer Xavier Foster is healthy to play. Head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports the Indians have played stellar defense as of late, and it comes down to effort.

“I think it comes down to energy. It seems like a simple answer, but our kids are just flying around and getting into passing lanes. And I just feel with this group if we can get stops on defense and attack on offense, and when we are able to do that and get attacking we are pretty fun to watch to be honest.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15.
