It was a busy day for Pella first responders during the first winter storm of the new year. The Pella Police Department issued 30 citations for violations of the snow ordinance that was in effect from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. Pella Fire and Pella Ambulance responded to three serious accidents Friday night during the ice storm, all along Highway 163 from Otley to Leighton. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says the department issued 36 snow ordinance parking tickets as well. Another winter storm may be brewing, according to the National Weather Service, as they are monitoring a possible mixed precipitation set up starting overnight Thursday and continuing through late Friday night, which could include snow, sleet, and rain. While it’s too far out for meteorologists to predict any totals of those types of precipitation, they anticipate travel problems could impact most of the state on Friday.
