Simpson College women’s basketball coach Brian Niemuth earned his 600th career win earlier this season against Millikin, and was recently honored for his achievement Saturday at the Simpson basketball doubleheader against Central. Niemuth tells KNIA News staying at Simpson might not have been the plan in the beginning, but it all worked out for the best.
“Things changed. I liked Simpson, I met my wife, she’s from Iowa and we got married and made a home here in the Des Moines area. It changed from what I had planned, but it’s been a good change. I’ve really enjoyed my experience here with the school, the community, the players, it’s been a good ride.”
Niemuth is currently ninth in career wins for active head coaches and 20th all-time in career coaching victories at the NCAA Division III level. To hear more from coach Niemuth, tune in to this week’s Simpson College Radio Coaches Corner on 94.3 KNIA at 7pm.
