The PCM basketball teams traveled to North Polk Thursday evening for a doubleheader that was moved up 24 hours due to winter weather. The Mustang girls could not sustain any momentum in an 84-25 loss. PCM could only muster seven points in the first half, and North Polk largely coasted to the win in the second half. The Mustangs fall to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
It was a close boys game, but PCM was able to muscle out a 47-40 win on the road. The Mustangs led by one after the first quarter, and North Polk was able to tie it at 20 at halftime. The Comets were held to only two points in the third quarter as PCM took a 30-22 lead into the fourth. It was an offensive explosion in the fourth, but the Mustangs were able to hold on for the victory. PCM is now 6-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference. Up next for the Mustangs is a home doubleheader against Pella on Saturday.
