Widespread snow is expected across the region Friday as a winter storm moves through the region. Total daytime accumulations between 3-5” is expected by early Saturday morning, with additional ice and mixed precipitation falling in the evening. Additionally, winds are expected to become breezy, especially on Saturday as much colder air moves in, and blowing snow is likely as gusts will top out near 40 miles per hour. After Thursday morning wind chills dipped to near 20 below zero, more frigid air is expected to begin late Saturday and continue through Monday night, as overnight air temperatures will dip below zero and winds will stay below zero for the majority of that time. All residents are reminded to avoid travel when possible Friday and Saturday, and to be extremely cautious if they have to be on the roads, and then to bundle up and avoid prolonged exposure in the arctic cold expected after the storm is over.
