For the first time in two weeks, the Central basketball teams will be playing on their home court this afternoon, hosting Nebraska Wesleyan. The Dutch women enter off their first conference win of the season after a complete victory over Dubuque on Wednesday. They’ll face a Nebraska Wesleyan team that has lost five games in a row, and sits at 2-5 in conference play. Despite the record, the Prairie Wolves will counter with the league’s leading scorer in Caitlin Navratil, who scores 24.4 points per game.
The Central men sit at 1-5 in conference play and will try to snap a seven-game skid. In order to do so, they’ll have to beat one of the best teams in the entire country. The Prairie Wolves enter as the #11 team in this week’s D3Hoops.com poll, and are a perfect 7-0 in conference play. Central head coach Craig Douma says that while you can’t really shut Nebraska Wesleyan down, his team will have to find ways to frustrate today’s opponent to be able to pull off the upset.
Nebraska Wesleyan brings in two of the top 10 scorers in the league, including league leader Nate Schimonitz and his 26.7 points per game.
Today’s doubleheader will air live on 92.1 KRLS with Jon Mohwinkle broadcasting the action. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45 p.m. with the tipoff of the women’s game at 2:00.
