The Simpson College women’s and men’s basketball teams are braving the winter weather to head to Luther College today, facing off against the Norse in an American Rivers Conference doubleheader. The Storm women are on an 8-game winning streak after a loss to Loras in December, and have won three conference games in a row to sit at 4-2 in conference play. The good conference record aside, the Storm will be tested against a Luther squad that is currently in a four-way tie for first place in the conference at 5-1. The Storm men have not fared as well in conference play, sitting at 2-4 but have a chance to build their way back up against the struggling Norse. Head coach Brad Bjorkgren tells KNIA Sports the Storm aren’t where they want to be, but will have to continue to hit the grind.

“We have to get better each day. We are not where we want to be, and we can’t slap ourselves on the back after one victory in a row. We have to keep practicing hard to get better and to get where we want to be, and things are going to shorten up with our practice time.”

Action can be heard today on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. The games have been moved back due to weather, and will start at 4pm and 6pm, with pregame coverage beginning at 3:45pm.
