Former Vice President and Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Joe Biden spoke at Simpson College Saturday afternoon, making his first campaign stop in Indianola during the primary season. Iowa Congresswoman Abby Finekenauer introduced Biden at the event, with Biden discussing his upbringing in Pennsylvania, as well as the importance of making rural Iowa and rural America be leaders in the climate change fight.

“It’s time we in fact act, we can begin immediately, and I might add that the farmers in Iowa and the farmers in American can be the first group of people in America to get to net zero emissions by absorbing carbon in the air, by increasing conservation areas, by getting paid to do it, and planting deep root plants, there are so many things we can do to increase the economic growth, and it will create 10 million new great paying jobs.”

Approximately 300 people showed up to the event.
