The Simpson women’s and men’s swimming and diving squads traveled to Grinnell Friday for what was originally a two-day tournament, and saw a record breaking performance. Alyssa Harris captured the 100-yard individual medley school record with a time of 1:07.01 to etch her name atop the history books in the event. Harris’ broke the record by .17 off of Tori Haag’s previous record of 1:07.18, which was set on Dec. 5, 2015.
On the men’s side, Danny Turner found his way onto the podium with a second-place finish in the 100 individual medley. His time of 53.62 cuts off two seconds of his previous-best finish of 55.95.
The Storm women placed ninth with 79 points and the men sixth with 24, neither team traveled back to Grinnell on Saturday due to weather.
