The Pella City Council accepted a bid for wastewater treatment plant upgrades at their meeting Tuesday evening. Council will hire WRH, Inc., for nearly $6 million in improvements mandated by the Iowa DNR to renovate the current facility, but will delay the actual award of the contract until city staff can secure an additional $1 million in financing. Additionally, they amended an agreement for private development with Harvest Investments for a housing cooperative project at Bos Landen for those over the age of 55. Council also approved resolutions awarding a contract for the next phase of the city’s sidewalk repair project, set a public hearing for February 18 to award a contract for the Pella Municipal Airport wildlife fence project, and an engineering services agreement with Veenstra & Kimm for a water main extension along Fifield Road. During policy and planning, council received department overview presentations from the Police Department, Public Works, and Community Services.
