First responders in Pella are coming together for the first annual Blood Battle Blood Drive. Jen Gannaway with Pella Ambulance says members of Pella Ambulance, Pella Fire, the Pella Police Department, and Pella Regional Health Center are hosting a friendly competition with the aim of getting the community to donate much needed blood to Lifeserve. The blood drive event will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pella Community Ambulance at 604 Main Street in Pella. Lt. Paul Haase says community members who come to donate at the event are able to vote for their favorite emergency response group, with a traveling trophy awarded to one of the four agencies responsible for saving lives in the Pella area.
