During the upcoming budget process for the Pella City Council, several large scale projects are expected to be considered. Assistant City Administrator Corey Goodenow says the council will review the budget at the next regular meeting on February 4th, and then at two workshops on February 10th and 11th, explore in-depth some major projects coming in the next fiscal year. That includes financing for the municipal telecommunications utility and ongoing plans for the future of the Pella Community Center. Goodenow says the city’s overall financial health is in strong shape, and there are resources available to tackle some of the larger projects looming. The City of Pella operates on a $45 million budget annually, which includes electric, water, and wastewater utilities, as well as day-to-day operations in public works, community services, and city hall.
