The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in special session Thursday. The board continued discussions regarding the fiscal year 2021 County Budget, to which the board approved a three percent compensation increase for every department employee, to be dictated by county department heads.
The board also received two bids for the Courthouse Elevator Project. The first bid was from Ball Team Construction and featured a base bid of $1,565,000 and the second bid was from Moore Construction and featured a base bid of $2,195,030. Both bids also include Add Alternative bids in addition to the base bid for items such as the addition of a fire suppression system in the courthouse. The board will now need to set a public hearing date to determine if they wish to accept one of the bids. The board originally estimated the project would cost approximately $1.3 million.
