This marks the fourth year of the Pella Public Library’s Culture Night series and the 2020 series will begin with a presentation about the Dominican Republic. Tess Kulstad will share about the history, geography, food and people of the Dominican Republic, which shares the Caribbean island of Hispaniola with Haiti. This mostly Spanish-speaking country is home to the first cathedral, castle, monastery and fortress in the Americas, all located in its capital city, Santo Domingo. The community is invited to learn about this unique culture which celebrates its Independence Day in February. More Culture Nights will follow with France on March 9, Venezuela on April 6 and Niger in June. Culture Night: Domincan Republic will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10th in Room 206 of the Pella Community Center at 712 Union St. This program is free and open to the public.
