After five straight games of basketball played inside of the Pella city limits, the Pella High School teams will hit the road to Newton for a girls-boys doubleheader this evening.

Pella’s girls are hoping to build their longest winning streak of the year, as the Lady Dutch have had only two-game winning and losing patterns at most this year, and a win against Newton tonight could set the stage for a three-win streak. Head Coach Jerod Garland says the goal is to finish the regular season strong and try to be ready to play spoiler in the postseason wherever they land.

Pella’s No. 2 in Class 3A boys are coming off of two straight losses to the two teams atop the Little Hawkeye Conference by three combined points — in fact, Pella’s four losses this season have come by only nine points this season. Coverage from Pella at Newton High School starts at 6 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
