The Pella City Council held a public hearing to rezone a property on Truman Road at their meeting Tuesday evening. Council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would change the zoning at 405 Truman from light industry to community commercial. An application has been submitted by the owners of Bruxvoort’s Decorating Center, who intend to move into the fieldhouse currently housing De Kinderen Huis. According to Owner of PRC Fitness Josh Visser, there will be a transition of the childcare facility into PRC over the next few months. Council also approved a resolution awarding a contract of just under $6 million to WRH, Inc., for wastewater treatment plant upgrades, as well as set a public hearing for February 18th to amend a development agreement with South Main, LLC, as it relates to the timeline of the $16.5 million housing project. Council also received a presentation from the State Historic Preservation Office about the Certified Local Government Program.
