The Pella Knights of Columbus held their annual spelling bee for grades 4 through 7 recently. A competition was held on Thursday January 30 at St. Mary’s Church. The following students were top place finishers:

4th graders Graham Beekhuizen (3rd place), Grady Zellmer (2nd place) and Gavin O’Dell (1st place); 5th graders Tyler Thorson (2nd place) and Alex Bishara (1st place).

6th graders Evelyn Beal (1st place), Addie Droegemueller (2nd place) and Samantha Mitchell (3rd place); 7th grader Carey VanWyk (1st place).

First and second place winners advance to the regional spelling bee in Grinnell on February 16.
