The Indianola City Council approved the reception of a grant from the US Department of Commerce worth $627,237 for the expansion of E Iowa Ave at their most recent meeting Tuesday. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the grant is a big win for the area.

“We’re able to extend E Iowa, that will help open up the east part of our industrial park. The road will go in front of the new Missouri Valley Line training facility. That is a tremendous win for our community, that’s gonna bring in about 3500 students a year who are all spending money in our town, and it’s a marketing thing for our community. Having a road and utilities extend that far is going to make the development of our industrial park that much more attractive to future residents of the area.”

Waller also said he wants the public to know that city staff took it upon themselves to find out about the grant and bring it to Indianola, and he applauds their hard work in finding ways to benefit the community.
