During the upcoming budget process for the Pella City Council, several large scale projects are expected to be considered. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the council will review the budget at two workshops on February 17th and 19th, where they explore in-depth some major projects coming in the next fiscal year. That includes financing for the municipal telecommunications utility and ongoing plans for the future of the Pella Community Center. Nardini says the city’s overall financial health is in strong shape, and there are resources available to tackle some of the larger projects looming. The City of Pella operates on a $45 million budget annually, which includes electric, water, and wastewater utilities, as well as day-to-day operations in public works, community services, and city hall.
