The Pella bowling team closed the regular season Saturday with two matches. Pella defeated Newton with a baker round comeback, overcoming a 64 pin deficit after round one to win 2492-2479. The Little Dutch boys won their second match as well against Sigourney 2446-1404. The Lady Dutch outdueled Sigourney 1982-1882 and fell to Newton 2281-1661. In the win, Head Coach Mike Norman says the girls set several records in the process of scoring their first win of the season. Courtney Duinink set the 5th highest individual score (175) and posted a new team record two game series (335) on the team’s way to the 3rd highest individual round team score in school history (1346) and set a new team record match score of 1982. Saturday was also senior recognition day as the program honored Courtney Duinink, Drake Beard, Caleb Blom, Matt De Jong, Jalen Howe, Reid Miller, and Dakota Schippers.

Last week, Pella Christian was able to make up their January 11 meet as the traveled to Sigourney last Thursday. Head Coach Rod Blunck says the girls had one of their best meets of the season, falling to Sigourney 2105-1940. The girls were led by Aundrea Steen with a score of 280, followed closely by Cheyanne Collins at 274 and Alayna VanKooten at 261. The boys also posted their best score of the season in a 2442-1956-1591 win over Sigourney and Isaac Newton Christian Academy. The boys had five round one scores at 300 or better, and Austin VanKooten came in at 347, Blake Veenstra had a score of 324 and Kenyon Geetings posted a 314.

Both Pella and Pella Christian will compete at the conference bowling meet this Saturday.
