Six Knoxville Wrestlers have advanced to the class 2A district meet in Knoxville on Saturday and the Panthers by virtue of their runner-up finish in the team standings have qualified for the team regional dual on Tuesday. Marco Alejo at 106 pounds, Luke Spaur at 120 pounds, Gabe Gordon at 126 pounds, Hayden Hatch at 132 pounds, Nash Linsley at 160 pounds, and Gavin Montalvo at 170 pounds have all qualified for the district on Saturday with Spaur and Montalvo heading to the district as sectional champions while Gordon, Hatch Linsley, and Alejo qualified as runners-up. Those six will wrestle for a chance to go to state next Saturday at Knoxville. Coach Doug Hatch was especially proud of Hayden Hatch and Montalvo in advancing to districts as they were JV Wrestlers when the season bgan.

That’s just awesome. They were JV so I always talk about how you never know when your opportunity will come up. Things worked out they both got in the varsity line up, Gavin got into the varsity line up and Hayden is working hard right now.”
Knoxville will also wrestle in the class 2A team regional duals on Tuesday in Winterset. The Panthers will take on the host Huskys with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont battling Harlan in the other dual at 6:00pm.
