A Melcher-Dallas man was arrested Saturday evening following the report of a domestic incident. According to court documents, just before 10 p.m. Saturday law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Highway G76 near Melcher-Dallas. Upon arrival, officers made contact with 29-year-old Andrew McLaren. Officers asked McLaren for his identification and McLaren told officers his ID was in his bedroom. Officers told McLaren they would go with him to retrieve the ID and  McLaren told them to leave the residence since they didn’t have a search warrant. Officers grabbed McLaren’s arm to escort him outside, when McLaren told the officer if the officer touched him again they would fight. Officers told McLaren they were not comfortable with him going anywhere inside the residence. Officers attempted to detain McLaren when he resisted and hit one of the officers in the mouth causing a cut. After McLaren was detained, he told officers that he and his wife had been drinking and had got into an argument. McLaren said he didn’t hit his wife. The victim told officers that her husband had made several threats towards her which put her in fear for her safety. McLaren was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault, 3rd or subsequent offense, a class D felony as well as interference with official acts inflicting bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
