A burst of arctic air is expected to impact the region. A rapid cool down is expected later today, which combined with melting from earlier in the week and a dusting of light snow, could make travel hazardous later this evening and on Thursday morning. The National Weather Service says overnight lows will dip to near or below zero early Thursday and Friday morning, with wind chill values expected to drop to between 15 and 20 degrees below zero. If skin is left exposed in those conditions, frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes. The cool down is expected to be brief, as temperatures will warm back up to near 40 degrees on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest winter weather information.
