The Indianola School Board approved the year-round calendar at their meeting Monday, giving a schedule to Irving Elementary students and teachers who go to school without the normal summer break. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News there are specific guidelines the district has to follow to comply with state law.
“We have to write a calendar that makes sure does not have a summer break longer than six weeks, students attending school at least 10 days in 11 of the 12 months, and we have the same hours requirement of a traditional calendar with 1080 hours of instruction. Once we get those parameters we can try to sync it up with the traditional calendar so they all end at the same time.”
