The Simpson Storm women’s and men’s basketball squads couldn’t overcome the Kohawks of Coe College on their home floor Wednesday night, with the women falling 84-75 and the men 80-60. The Storm women fell behind early 19-10 at the end of the first quarter, and despite keeping the game close from there and getting the deficit down to a couple possessions several times, couldn’t get the lead and the Kohawks salted away the game down the stretch. Kia Rasmussen led Simpson with 21 points, with Jenna Taylor, Claire Johnson, and Cassie Nash all reaching double digit points. The Storm men fared much of the same, with Coe earning a 12 point lead 38-26 at halftime, and continued their push into the second half to pick up the win. Conor Riordan led the Storm with 14 points. The Storm women are now 16-6 and 8-5, while the men are 10-12 and 4-9. Both teams will travel to Wartburg on Saturday.
