The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday. The council held a public hearing regarding the fiscal year 2020-2021 city budget, and approved a resolution to adopt the budget. They tabled an agreement between the city and the Marion County Humane Society related to the animal shelter and control services. The new agreement would be a payment of $20,000 for this year until July, and $25,000 for the subsequent year, and then $30,000. After that fees will rise 2% a year. The rate hasn’t been changed since 2008. The city would retain the $50 fee charged to the owner of the animal. The council approved final plans, specifications form of contract and estimate of cost for the 2020 Roche Street Culvert Replacement Project.
In a final matter, Police Chief Dan Losada announced his retirement effective May 15, Law Enforcement Memorial Day. He has served as a police officer for 38 years.
