Pella Community Ambulance was awarded the traveling trophy for winning the first Blood Battle Blood Drive in Pella. Misty Van Der Kamp with LifeServe brought the award to the service on Tuesday afternoon, and says the blood battle represented the generosity of the Pella community, which is a consistent supplier of blood donations for the region. Van Der Kamp says LifeServe is also working at area churches and schools to continue encouraging critical donations to help save lives in Central Iowa. Pella Ambulance reports that 36 registered donors helped save or sustain 87 lives through LifeServe, including 12 first time donors on January 30th. Pella Ambulance won the traveling trophy, as 16 donors chose the service over the Pella Police Department, Pella Fire Department, and Pella Regional E.R. in a friendly competition.
