The Lady Dutch basketball team aims to play spoiler today in the Class 4A regional semifinals. Pella’s girls will travel to Clear Creek Amana to take on the No. 15 ranked Clippers this evening. The Lady Dutch defeated Oskaloosa 61-31 in the opening round of the playoffs and have a 12-10 record, while Clear Creek Amana stands at 17-4 overall and earned a bye in the first round of the regional bracket, and finished in a tie for 4th place in the deep and talented WaMac Conference, and 2nd in the West Division. Head Coach Jerod Garland says Clear Creek Amana is led by 2019 2nd team All-State player Karysn Stratton, who also has a strong supporting cast.
“She’s a fantastic ball handler, she can attack very quickly–either side, crossover and pull left,” he says. “They also have a couple of six-footers, so they have some nice height to go with it…they’ve also got two shooters, so they’re a really nice, balanced team.”
