The Knoxville Community School District is holding their second Parent/Caregiver University event today. The event titled Discovering your Parenting Strengths will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at the Knoxville High School Media Center. Parents and caregivers will learn different topics to help develop positive skills for addressing common parenting challenges as well as get support from other adults. Intervention Strategist Nick Payton with the district tells KNIA/KRLS News the event is for anyone who would like their young people to succeed or would like some help or would like to just come, learn and listen. Payton says the event isn’t just for parents. He says attendees can be parents, caregivers, guardians, friends of parents it does not matter, it’s all about connecting and getting help for the young people in the district. This is the second of four events aimed at giving extra support to parents and caregivers. Each Parent/Caregiver University event is held on the last Monday of every month through April.
