pleasantville-3

The season has come to a close for the Pleasantville girls basketball team after they lost their playoff opener to Pella Christian on Tuesday. It was an 8-14 campaign, with a 3-11 record in the West Central Conference. It was a 4-2 start to the season prior to Christmas Break, but injuries significantly thinned the lineup immediately in 2020.

In the first game after the break, three Trojans went down with injuries. Josie Hutchings and Adi Adreon both went down with sprained ankles, while a concussion sidelined Carlie Sloan. Head Coach Jeff Cook says their depth was hindered while those three were gone, but they were able to make up some lost ground when they returned.

“We were without those kids for about three weeks. And when you take what was pretty much an eight-person bench that we were playing and you take three of them out of there, that made us pretty thin. When those kids got back, I felt that we came back and battled people. A couple of the games we lost when they were injured, we came back and won the second time around. So I did feel good about that.”

When those three returned, the Trojans still found trouble sustaining momentum, dropping their final three games. Pleasantville says goodbye to three seniors from this year’s team.
