Pella Christian will have a district final showdown with longtime non-conference rival Des Moines Christian this evening in Newton. The Eagles, at 11-10 overall, will clash with the 17-5 and No. 9 ranked Lions in what could be the closest boys basketball district matchup on paper this evening in Class 2A. Pella Christian Head Coach Larry Hessing says the Eagles will have to play better defense in the rematch between the teams after DMC scored 84 points in the regular season game.

The Eagles will hope Josh Van Gorp will be a major difference between game one and two — the senior post missed the 84-71 loss in January due to injury. Coverage from Pella Christian vs. Des Moines Christian at Newton High School begins at 6:30 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS, with opening tip at 7 p.m.
