After Thursday’s district semifinal loss to Des Moines Christian, the PCM boys basketball team has concluded their season. The Mustangs finished tied for fifth in the Heart of Iowa Conference, and will say goodbye to five seniors in Cooper VandeLune, Jason Stafford, Kolten Johnson, Robbie Ferneding and Derek Brown. Head Coach Fred Lorensen says it was a great group to work with, despite some of them not getting as much playing time throughout the season.
“Robbie Ferneding, Kolten Johnson, Cooper VandeLune, just so proud of those kids. They’re really great kids, they came to practice every day, never complained, just did what we asked them to do. Jason and Derek had really good careers for us, they were with the varsity even as freshmen. They just continued to improve every year, good players and very good kids.”
The Mustangs finished 12-11 overall and 7-7 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
