A Knoxville couple was sentenced to 15 years behind bars recently for multiple drug related offenses. According to court documents Daniel Sparks, 48, and Melinda Sparks, 45, were each sentenced to 15 years in prison stemming from an incident that occurred this past October. On October 14th, officers with Mid Iowa Narcotics Enforcement conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of West Marion Street in Knoxville. Officers located Daniel Sparks and Melinda Sparks in a detached garage of the residence. During a search officers located 23.3 grams of methamphetamine in multiple baggies and a digital scale. Officers also located 7.6 grams of marijuana as well as multiple prescription drugs. Upon further investigation officers observed messages on cell phones belonging to Daniel and Melinda indicating the distribution of narcotics. This past Friday, both Daniel and Melinda Sparks were sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay $1,750 each in fines as well as complete a substance abuse evaluation.
