On Saturday the career of one of, if not the greatest to ever wear black and gold was closed out when the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad lost to Gilbert in the class 4A regional semi-final. Katie Keitges nearly rewrote the record book for the Panthers, becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Panthers in the five-on-five era, and many more. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KRLS Sports Keitges brought so much to the table for the Panthers.

Uitermarkt:
“What she brought to the table for us for four years was complete all around. Our best defender, most of the time for four years the kids we would put on the team’s best kids almost every night, and we also relied on her to score a big chunk of our points most nights.”

Keitges finished this season as the team’s leading scorer at 23.2 points per game. She finished her career with 1,752 points, 489 rebounds, 261 assists, 288 steals and 171 three pointers made. The career points and assists are school records, and her 120 assists this season is also a school record. The Panthers went 58-30 in her four seasons. Keitges will continue her basketball career next winter at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
