The Pleasantville girls basketball team finished up their season last week, bowing out in the regional quarterfinals to Pella Christian. In that game, the Trojans only scored seven points in the second quarter. That was a looming trend throughout the season, as Pleasantville consistently struggled in the second quarter. Head Coach Jeff Cook says that despite having a team capable of being explosive at times, they need to be more consistent throughout the course of a game.

“For whatever reason, we’ve struggled in the second quarter all year. If you look at the yearly stats and break it down by quarter, the second quarter is awful, and I’m not sure why that is. A lot of nights, we’ll score two or four points in the second quarter. I wish I could figure out a reason why, because a lot of times we’ll come back third, or against Van Meter we scored 21 points in the fourth quarter. So we have that explosiveness in us. But sometimes when we hit those spots, we can go minutes and minutes without scoring, and that makes it really tough.”

The Trojans finished 8-14, and will graduate three seniors.
