Tomorrow morning, costumed participants will jump into the cold waters of Lake Ahquabi south of Indianola raising money for Special Olympics Iowa for the 14th consecutive Warren County Polar Plunge. Teams will jump into the frigid waters, with prizes given out for best individual costume and team costume. Warren County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Spurr tells KNIA News the event raises money for a great cause.
“There are a lot of individuals with intellectual disabilities and we want to raise money for awareness and so they can participate in more activities and be included. They participate with us in this right alongside us, and it’s fun to see the courage they have and it gives us courage and strength to keep doing what we are doing.”
