The Pella Christian boys basketball team is state bound for the 15th time in school history after defeating South Hamilton 52 to 30, in a broadcast heard live on 92.1 KRLS. The Eagles led wire to wire, and never looked back after pulling ahead by double digits early in the second quarter. Pella Christian was led by Josh Van Gorp and his 12 points, and 10 points from Keean Cadwell. The Eagles improve to 13 and 10, and qualify for state for the 12th time under future Hall of Fame coach Larry Hessing. Pella Christian will learn their state tournament opponent later today after seeds are determined.
Pella will have to overcome a fierce Little Hawkeye Conference rival if they are to get to the state tournament for the 17th time and program history. The Dutch will take on Oskaloosa in the class 3A substate final at Knoxville High School. Pella has defeated Oskaloosa twice by an average of 12 points per game, but the Indians have won four of their last five and are the defending class 3A state champions. Coverage of Pella postseason basketball begins at 6:30 p.m. today from Knoxville High School on 92.1 KRLS, with opening tip at 7:00 p.m.
