Warren County 4H groups joined together for a meal packing event Sunday afternoon at the Blake Fieldhouse in Indianola, packing meals to donate to Warren County food pantries. Jackie Rafferty helped organize the event, and tells KNIA News there was a ton of support from local 4H groups to bring in volunteers, but that is no surprise because they understand the importance of events like these.
“I think food insecurity is becoming more widely known, and the meal packaging events are always fun to do and is obviously for a good cause. Our volunteers had groups from all over Warren County and we had such a good turnout.”
Rafferty also said 12,000 meals were packed, and if anyone is interested in participating in an event like this in the future to contact the Warren County Extension Office.
