With the majority of the varsity squad just sophomores, the Indianola girls basketball squad has seen a lot of development over the last several years. The three leading scorers on the team were sophomores Lauren Blake and Mara Bishop as well as Junior Kendall Clatt, and head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports during their post-season meetings, they were in unison on what the team needed to do to improve.
“We had tremendous meetings with the girls, and each one of those three brought something different to the meeting. Their ownership of our team and our program, and their understanding of what we lacked this year and how do we address it was outstanding. Coupled with a lot of outstanding meetings, those three really set the tone of where we are at now and where we need to go.”
The Indians improved to 16-7 this year after going 9-11 in 2018-19.
