The Helping Hand of Warren County held an open house fundraiser at Annelise Winery Sunday afternoon, inviting the public to learn more about the services provided by the food pantry and donate their time and money to help. Executive Director Sue Wilson tells KNIA News not only the number of volunteers, but the number of families who included young children who volunteered was inspiring.
“I think this is one of the first generations that are a little more open if they are struggling. And we are trying to talk about it more so people understand that everyone struggles. Everyone is one paycheck away from a disaster in their home. So bringing the families in and helping the families, we are truly a family place. All the way from all of our volunteers who bring in their children and grandchildren, and we want to keep that atmosphere of having families think to themselves that this is a place that I would walk in to.”
Wilson also said the Helping Hand is not just for food, it can be used for clothing, furniture, and household items as well at no cost to Warren County residents.
