The size and tempo of No. 6 Sergeant Bluff-Luton was too much to overcome Tuesday as the No. 3 Pella boys basketball team fell 58-43 in a Class 3A state quarterfinals game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The normally high-paced Pella attack could never find its footing against the three 6-8 starters the Warriors employed, as the Dutch turned the ball over five times and scored only five points in the 1st quarter, falling into a deep deficit they never overcame.
Junior Grant Nelson scored 19 points and Senior Logan Shetterly finished with 14 in his final game after three years of starting.
Pella finishes the 2020 season at 19-6 overall and says farewell to nine seniors.
