The season is now officially over for the boys basketball teams in the West Central Conference, after Woodward-Granger bowed out of the state tournament. It was Pleasantville’s second year in the conference, after spending many years in the Pride of Iowa. Head Coach Joel Allman says it was slightly easier to prepare for team’s this season, but it is still a very competitive league.
“Preparation-wise, it was a lot easier. But obviously, you still have to go out and execute gameplans. And that’s the hard part against this conference, everybody is well-prepared it seems like. Everybody is pretty solid, you have to come out and play your best basketball every night. The top five teams in our league are unbelievable teams, and it speaks to our conference, and how good it was I think.”
Pleasantville finished sixth in the conference with an 8-8 record. State qualifier Woodward-Granger was second at 14-2, while champion Van Meter finished a perfect 16-0 in the conference.
