Earning another honor during his time at Simpson College, graduating senior Conor Riordan was named an Academic All-America First Team selection, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday. Riordan holds a 3.94 GPA as a mathematics major and is one of five student-athletes across the three Academic All-America teams that has a GPA higher than 3.90. Simpson head coach Brad Bjorkgren tells KNIA Sports all six of his seniors were American Rivers Conference Academic All-Conference honorees, and that is something he holds a lot of pride in.

“Off the court, to have all six guys make the all-academic team of a 3.5gpa or higher, they represent Simpson in the classroom. Jared Bacon, Nick Janssen, Adam Reiter Conor Riordan, Kenton Thoms, and Kyle Wagner, those are guys I can put out there for this program. This is the fifth year in the league we have led the conference in number of academic all-conference.”

Riordan ended his last year in a Simpson uniform by averaging 20.1 points per game to move into eighth in team history for career points at 1,533.
