The Pleasantville girls basketball team had what is generally considered to be an up-and-down season. The Trojans got off to a hot start, winning their first four games, but lost nine in a row. Injuries were partially to blame, but they struggled to hit some of the shots they needed to. Head Coach Jeff Cook is confident in what his team is capable of defensively, but says if they can work to be better offensively, it will round the team out and put them in good position next season.
“The one thing we all know we have to work on is shooting, we’ve got to be able to shoot the ball. If we can shoot 35 percent most nights, we’d be in games. We played defense well enough, we didn’t give up a lot of points a lot of nights. Some of the better teams would put up 60 on us, but there were a lot of nights we kept people in the 40’s. And if you do that, you’re going to give yourself a chance to win if you shoot over 35 percent. That’s one of the things we know we have to do this summer, get lots of shots up.”
The Trojans finished 8-13 and say goodbye to only two seniors.
