roadwork-ahead

With warmer temperatures and spring right around the corner, it’s just a matter of time before road crews are out and about getting area roadways ready for summer travellers while also making much needed improvements. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News some of the roadways expected to be impacted by improvements this spring include a large overlay project on Old Highway 92 from T15 to T17 as well as Highway G46 from T15 to T17. Christians say the overlay projects should begin this April depending on the weather.

During Tuesday’s Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved the Marion County fiscal year 2021 through 2025 Construction Five Year Program. Christian says a major project a part of the five year program residents should start to prepare for is the replacement of the T15 bridge near Flagler. He says the replacement will mean the closure of T15 during the construction period. Christian says detours will be in place but residents should begin planning their travel scenarios now in preparation of the closure. He says the bridge replacement will be one of the largest projects Marion County has ever undertaken. Christian says the bridge replacement is scheduled to begin in July or August of 2022.
